At times it seems that the very survival as a species is under threat from individuals or groups of individuals that have developed, for whatever reason, a tremendous anger against society and a wish to do others harm. The Company does not claim to have solved the cause of this general problem, but the Company believes that it has developed a solution that we believe can protect us from much of the harm inflicted upon gathered groups so that we can once again feel comfortable dropping our children off at school or going shopping at the mall - activities society has taken for granted. The Company’s proposed solution is Alpha Alert.
After the Uvalde, TX school attack in May 2022, the Company was determined to identify a way to mitigate the effects of similar future events. Recognizing the importance of immediate action, the team conducted extensive research, engaging with various stakeholders such as schools, students, parents, teachers, and law enforcement. Through this research, it became evident that the key to mitigating the effects of such events was to initiate an effective response within seconds of the incident's initiation. With this insight, the Company focused on designing and building a rapid alert system that maximizes the chances of an optimal outcome.
The Alpha Alert system specifically caters to the needs of facility personnel, enabling them to respond swiftly during highly stressful situations. By pressing a simple alert, the system kicks into action, deploying a comprehensive set of measures aimed at ensuring a prompt and coordinated response. The Company's dedication to addressing the critical first seconds after an alert is pressed sets the Alpha Alert system apart. By streamlining communication and facilitating quick decision-making, the system empowers facility staff to take immediate action, potentially saving lives and minimizing the impact of incidents. The Company's alert system fills a crucial gap in safety measures by providing a rapid and effective response to incidents. By focusing on prompt action and ease of use, the system aims to enhance the overall safety and security of facility environments.
The Company’s alert system has already been installed within ten schools and facilities in three (3) states. There are over ninety-eight thousand (98,000) public schools and thirty thousand (30,000) private schools in the U.S. providing a market potential in the Company’s estimate of over $7B in equipment sales and approximately $1.6B in annual recurring service revenue.
AAS and its sister companies have serviced customers throughout the Southeastern US for decades. With a commitment to excellence, we pride ourselves on a proven track record of providing industry-leading products and services tailored to meet the diverse needs of clients.
Over the years, our network has effectively served a wide array of sectors, each with its unique requirements. From the learning environments in K-12 Education to supporting government agencies like the GSA, AAS and its sister companies have consistently risen to the occasion. Our commitment extends to crucial facilities such as NASA, commercial office buildings, and hospitals, where quality and reliability are non-negotiable.
Whether streamlining operations in demanding environments or providing essential services to enhance educational facilities, AAS and its sister companies stand shoulder to shoulder with our customers, ready to address their needs with a blend of innovation, expertise, and unwavering support. Together, we're not just building services; we're fostering a legacy of excellence.
AAS worked closely with Internet of Things ("IoT") sister companies specializing in monitoring, reporting, and notifying high-profile customers about their critical systems. In doing so, AAS has gained access to decades of experience in this field. Leveraging this expertise, AAS has developed a user-friendly and customizable product that aims to minimize the time gap between the occurrence of a traumatic event and the arrival of a response team. Through the integration of proprietary hardware and software, AAS has created a solution that streamlines and expedites the response process, enhancing overall safety and security measures. AAS is finalizing its recently developed upgraded generation of alert systems and expects to file a provisional patent.
AAS utilizes specially designed SmartHub devices installed in each room or area to interact with personnel to send its alert notifications. The SmartHub systems include invaluable features to meet the needs of the end users. The devices can be installed anywhere within a facility. The system is designed to allow anyone to respond quickly and easily to an incident during stressful circumstances. Each device has a built-in color-coded LED and onboard alarm sound to allow for audible and visual notifications when activated. The SmartHubs are powered by a standard one hundred ten (110) volt outlet, and each device has a built-in battery backup system that allows it to function without power for up to seventy-two (72) hours. The devices can connect to the facility Wi-Fi and a proprietary Cellular gateway network. AAS installs both strategically throughout the facility to maximize coverage and overlap of networks.
SmartHubs are activated with a small line of sight infrared (IR) remote. The remotes will activate any of the SmartHubs within the facility. Each remote has up to five (5) potential notifications. The buttons on the remotes are pre-programmed as Test (Green), Disruption (Yellow), Weather (Orange), Medical (Red), and Police (Blue).
The test feature allows for the SmartHubs and the remotes to be tested live by any personnel while the system is fully operational. This feature ensures that each SmartHub and remote is fully functional and ready to be utilized at a moment's notice. The test feature is vital to AAS’s design and implementation because, unlike others, our technology does not require to be disabled and placed out of service to test its functionality.
When a response is triggered, a notification alert is sent within seconds. The alert is sent via text and/or call to a customized list provided by the end user. The alert is also available through an AAS website interface that can remain active on a facility computer and will update live as alerts are triggered.
The alert will include the type of notification sent, the name of the facility, the exact location within the facility, the address, and phone number of the facility. For text message alerts a facility map link is included. Once the link is clicked a webpage will open displaying a drawing of the facility with a highlighted section of where the notification was activated. Alerts will be color coded, for example: Disruptions will highlight in a yellow color and Intruder will highlight in a blue color.
Driving directions are also included through a link that will open on the individuals cell phone google map application giving the fastest route from the cell phone’s current location.
Automated Call to Authorities
In addition to the notifications and information sent via text message, the system can call local authorities. An Emergency Call could be placed with a customizable message that would be repeated 3 times. For Example:
“There is an Active Shooter in classroom 329 at location 1550 ACME RD., ACME CA 55555. Please send help immediately. This message is from Alpha Alert System’s automated software.”
When personnel or authorities review the facility map link, if the facility has more than one floor, then each floor will be displayed. Overlapping areas will be lighter on the screen with the darker sections being the rooms on that floor (see Floor 2 below). The facility drawings are provided by the end users and updated by AAS. AAS will make its best efforts to display as much information as possible, including street names, outside doors, staircases, and inside doors. The facility diagram will include a compass with due North highlighted.
The advantage of distributing information in a rapid manner with highlighted facility layouts is to allow the responding team to develop a plan to approach and quickly deescalate the event.
As new alerts are triggered, onsite personnel or an Incident Commander can review the updated information, location mapping, and relay new objectives or tasks to the responding teams.
Disseminating information in this manner allows respondents to remain focused while onsite personnel develop evolving mitigation strategies.
Once an event is resolved, the reset buttons may be utilized. This deactivates the alert, another text and/or call will be distributed to notify personnel that the event has been cleared.
Keeping people safe is vital for today’s facilities and organizations. Alpha Alert System’s customizable notification solution provides peace of mind wherever there is a responsibility of care. Through customizable responses, facilities and organizations can take control of how to respond to any distress events quickly and effectively.
Integrated Website Interface
The above information is available through a website interface that updates live. As alerts are triggered, the website will display the location of the alert within seconds of device activations. This website is available to whomever the client would like to have access to those alerts.
